What is Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is a relaxed and focused state of concentration, induced by suggestion.  It is a perfectly natural happening, which occurs in humans and animals and is part of our normal functioning, as is seeing and hearing.  It is not sleep, or a trance, but just deep relaxation and is very similar to that time just before falling asleep, when we enter the alpha state, a very dreamy enjoyable state.

When our mind is allowed to enter into this specific state the sub-conscious mind becomes more receptive to positive suggestion and visualisation.  We can access the sub-conscious mind when in this particular state to help release people from unconscious causes or beliefs that have taken root there.

These beliefs are not the result of conscious thoughts, otherwise they would be dealt with easily, but are filed away deep in the sub-conscious mind.   Combined with the use of hypnotherapy we can use suggestion or analytical therapy to enable people to make very permanent and positive changes to their daily lives.

How does hypnosis feel?  There is no such thing as a hypnotised feeling and many people do not feel as though they have been hypnotised.  Hypnosis is a very pleasant and relaxing experience of the mind and body.

Hypnotherapy is the use of therapeutic techniques or principles combined with hypnosis to help the treatment for those suffering with emotional or psychological problems.

This type of therapy can be extremely effective for those wishing to take control of habits or overcome difficulties which cause barriers stopping them from enjoying certain things in their life.  It is very beneficial for those wishing to give up smoking, weight lose, pre-test nerves, sports enhancement, fears and phobias, stress and relaxation.

It can also help people overcome more deep rooted issues.  This therapy enables people to discover the unconscious cause of their symptoms and then release them from the sub-conscious mind.

Hypnotherapy is an aid to being able to enter the sub-conscious mind, using suggestion and analytical therapy to enable them to make very positive and permanent changes to their everyday life.
